Sumitra Srikant, an interior designer turned organic gardener offers suggestions for avid gardeners. She says, “You have plants for all seasons. Greens, cucumbers and egg plants can be grown now. Do not worry about water. Soil around the plant needs to be moist. Actually, too much water will leach away the nutrients.”
Sumitra grows more than 25 varieties of plants at home and at her workplace called Aapti Gardening solutions. Basically, a computer technologist, she laid out a garden as the first thing when she built her house 12 years ago. One day when she saw the gardener using pesticides she stopped him and explained that it was harmful to health. But he went ahead stating that it kills pests instantly. “I did not want it as I knew that they caused problems for a lifetime and decided to go in for organic gardening,” said Sumitra.
