Dimensions of a good teacher

Throughout the country a number of teachers are being honoured with the Dr. Radhakrishnan Award on September 5. About 22 teachers from Tamil Nadu will be receiving the awards this year. In the field of school education Mr. G. Pandian, principal, Sivasami Kalalaya Higher Secondary School, Mandaveli, has been selected for the National Award, 2011 this year. He will be honoured at a function to be held at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi. The award carries a certificate of merit, a cash award of Rs. 25,000 and a silver medal.

Mr. Pandian, has had an impressive 32 years as an asst prof of Maths, PG teacher, lecturer, co-ordinator and principal. When informed about the award early in August it was a mix of emotions for him. He was pleased and proud to have been recognised for his hard work. “Receiving this award is an honour. It is a recognition for my service and an incentive for better service in the future,” he said.
