About Lalitha Sai
My story
Lalithasai , a journalist par excellence, with an experience of over 25 years, has penned innumerable articles for the betterment of the society. For over two decades at The Hindu (India’s National Newspaper), she had written with sensitivity and understanding about marginalized women and children. She has also covered public education, communities, urban affairs and development in Tamil Nadu.
When the tsunami struck in 2004, she was actively involved in reporting extensively about the affected families in the fishing hamlets in Pattinapakkam. This led to several organisations across the globe sending financial and essential resource support to the tsunami survivors. It helped children to get admission into schools and part-time jobs too.
Her versatility in writing can be observed from her articles which range from the plight of women in the jaggery industry (Madurai), toils of our sisters in the knitting industry (Tiruppur) to women selling fish and flowers on the shores of the Marina.
She has also interviewed senior editors of foreign media, liased with major media organisations to understand the situations and plight of women even in developed nations. Now, she is a major contributor for the World Moms Network, which is a Forbes Top 100 website for women.
Lalithasai, who has many feathers in hat, has had her humble beginnings in a middle class South Indian family. Over the years, she has risen to be an inspiration and leader for many sisters and mothers in the world.
